Keeping the vision and the mission on focus and to enhance it systematically and academically, English Department was extended by the Management by starting the Under Graduate Course on English Literature from the academic year 2012-2013.

Commencement of MA English Literature
Parting knowledge through academic courses covering all periods and genres of literature written in English, as well as offerings in creative expository and professional writing, criticism and linguistics.
To achieve this objective in English Literature, post graduate course was started from the academic year 2015-2016.
Inauguration of Blossom Club
Realising the importance of English for the whole student population at large in their daily lives and at work place, we paved way for an English club namely Blossom Club’ in the academic year 2012-2013.
The main objective of our club is “Empowerment of students in English language in live with the global need and advancement that is developing students in communicative skills individually and thus enriching then personality in the society and at work place”.
The ‘Blossom Club’ was officially inaugurated on 25 February 2013 by Dr.S.Armstrong the respectful Head of English Department, Madras University in colours and joy of the students and the faculty.
Inauguration of Literary Association
With the view of drawing the talents and creativity of literature students of UG and PG courses, we made headway for the ‘Literary Association’.
The goals of Literary Association
- Exposing the students both in inter and intra college competitions, through programs, activities and seminars.
- Encouraging students throughout the program so as to enable them to progress expeditions to their degree and to gain the maximum benefit from their.
- Developing an understanding of the American and British literary traditions, and those of other literatures in English through cultural, social activities using IT tools and modern innovations.
The ‘Literary Association’ was inaugurated on 29 February 2020 in our college campus both with the UG and PG students by our respectful chief guest of the day, Dr. S. Samuel Rufus, Associate Professor, Madras Christian College.

Program Objectives
| PO 1: | To introduce the students to enrich the Literature from old British English period to Modern era. |
| PO 2: | To introduce prominent English writings and their styles from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. |
| PO 3: | To explain the relationship between a text and literary traditions, movements, culture, genres and other forms. |
| PO 4: | To cultivate an appreciation for the impact of Shakespeare’s language on English. |
| PO 5: | To expose students to classical literary methodologies and perspectives and gain an understanding of early human experiences from different parts of the world. |
| PO 6: | The purpose of this programme is to expose students to the vitality and vigor of Elizabethan drama as exemplified by Shakespeare. |
| PO 7: | To Reinforce and test student’s knowledge of English Grammar. |
| PO 8: | To Introduce students to the evolution of other countries literature through the study of pioneering texts. |
| PO 9: | To assist student in sensitizing to the correct and incorrect use of the English language. |
| PO 10: | Understanding and interrogating the extent to which local histories, politics and cultural patterns interrogate Eurocentric conceptions of culture and language in their contexts and the impact of colonial forces on them. |
