DEPARTMENT OF Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry traces its origin since 1992. The department offers an Undergraduatesince 1992 and Postgraduate program offers since 1999 in Biochemistry. Since its inception, the department was recognized for its teaching and well balanced curriculum having theory and practical oriented classes. The department educates and trains undergraduate students to become science professionals and informed global citizens.
The department has separate classrooms and well equipped laboratories in order to provide hands on training to students. The department is housed with a library to motivate students for higher studies.
The Department organizes students meet, various competitions, Guest Lectures by experts from national/regional institutes and various other student development programs. Field visits are undertaken every year, and the students are encouraged to attend symposia, seminars and conference with proper guidance from the faculties.
The overall goal of Department of Biochemistry is to impart quality education along with basic and applied aspects of Science to demonstrate and promote creative, intellectual and positive relationships among students and faculty at entry-level for future application in the dynamic world, to eminent and researchers.

Program Outcomes for B.Sc Biochemistry Program
The program outcomes (PO) are the statement of competencies/ abilities. POs are the statement that describes the knowledge and the abilities the graduate/ post‐graduate will have by the end of program studies.
| PO 1: | In‐depth and detailed functional knowledge of the fundamental theoretical concepts and experimental methods of Biochemistry. |
| PO 2: | Skills in planning and conducting advanced chemical experiments and applying structural‐chemical characterization techniques. |
| PO 3: | Apply/implement interface between, on the one hand, the history of Biochemistry and natural science and, on the other hand, issues pertaining to the areas of modern technology, health, and environment. |
| PO 4: | Skill in examining specific phenomena theoretically and/or experimentally. |
| PO 5: | Generation of new scientific insights or to the innovation of new applications of Biochemistry research. |
Program Specific Outcomes for B.Sc Biochemistry Program
| PSO 1: | After completion of the program the students are well poised to pursue careers in academic and industry in the areas of pharmaceutical and biotechnology. |
